Let’s start from the basics 👇 Checks began as an $8 open edition on January 3, 2023. 16,031 identical pieces were created. On february 12, 2023, a mechanism for migrating open editions to immutable onchain artwork was deployed on ethereum. Collectors can choose to migrate their Editions to onchain Originals at any time. So, the supply of Editions decreases as more are migrated onchain to become Originals. By migrating, Editions are destroyed, and Originals retain their ID in a new collection. When migrated, they are revealed onchain. The process is irreversible; Once migrated, you can’t go back. Originals are also deflationary, and here’s why: Once Editions are migrated, they become Checks “80.” Two of these can be combined into a Checks “40”, (Nella foto vediamo due Checks "40" combinarsi in un Checks "20"). So on up to creating a Checks “One” (20+ ETH floor). It takes 64 Checks Editions to create a single Checks “One.” That’s why the collection is deflationary. So far, 79 Checks One have been created. Originals have rarity too: Seven possible color bands (“1” is the rarest, currently around 3–4 ETH floor). This is one of the most important trait. Gradients is important too but less. THE MOST SIGNIFICANT GOAL IS CREATING A SINGLE BLACK CHECK : the largest and final piece in the collection. A Black Check requires 64 Single Checks to produce (4,096 Editions). Only three will ever be possible. So, about Checks strategy: Which one should you buy? Logically, if we consider floor price, Editions have more potential value since they can still reveal rarer Originals. That’s why when both prices are similar, many Editions get migrated, reducing their supply. However, the NFT Strategy has accelerated Edition migrations, since it has stated (logically) that the strategy will be built around Originals. So, anyone holding Editions is now trying their luck without losing the usual price gap between Originals and Editions. Yesterday, many Editions were migrated, and today, even more will likely follow. In the very short term (today), there are two possible plays: 1️⃣ If you want to play it "safe" → Buy an Edition (NFA) 2️⃣ If you’re quick → Buy an Edition, migrate it, and if it reveals something common, flip it. (NFA) For long-term holders, Editions are the obvious choice, especially when priced close to Originals. While Collectors (not speculators or just holders) aiming to build a Checks One or potentially a Black Check are the ones who compose, burning the Originals’ supply in the process.
