The village of #Codford in #Wiltshire was once two, St. Peter and St. Mary. They each have their own church, which are distinctly different architecturally and in character and yet they are little more than a mile apart. Both are worth a visit.

I've read that English Garden Bond was only seen in quantity in the North East of England and yet it appears common on this scamper, just as with #Heytesbury it is found in older buildings in #Codford. No queen closers here either

Rather beautiful dressed stone house with stone rubble returns and stone insert to front bearing the date 1722. Probably originally thatched judging by the coped gables. Lovely creamy local stone #CodfordBuildings #Codford #Wiltshire
This part of the valley has strong links with the military and the ANZACS especially. In places they have left their mark on the landscape. Sadly for some this was their last resting place #SherringtonToCodford (6/6) #FingerpostFriday #Codford #Wiltshire. Tomorrow a new church
Heading back towards #Codford to cross the river for a last time and skitter (fast) across the A36. In the far distance a ridge of hills that separates the valley from the MOD at Salisbury plain. It runs to Warminster bearing hillforts and bowl barrows #SherringtonToCodford (4/6)
If you visit #Sherrington in #Wiltshire, I'd recommend walking. Either from #Boyton or #Codford (I'm about to share that walk now). The latter means crossing the A36, so it is tricky. Coming up, some highlights of the reverse walk.
As usual #FontsMeanFarewell on Friday and it's goodbye to #SherringtonChurch. I'd recommend a visit, the church is tiny but packed with interesting detail. It's not knocked Knook off the number one spot, but it's close. I'll be back #Sherrington #Wiltshire
