Attempts to increase empathy for survivors' entrapment often backfires against them especially when it comes to expectations they will keep their children safe. Instead we need #DVInformed approaches that emphasize survivors' strengths not deficits as parents.

@KPanoutsopoulou @DrEmmaKatz I'm sorry that this has been the answer you've been given. Learning about a perpetrator's patterns or broader trauma histories and a survivors' strengths & protective efforts is not "listening to someone's life story" it is the center of #DVInformed assessment
Same is true for #failuretoprotect fathers who are abusive do not get help they need when protective mothers are blamed for the harm caused by the abusive father. #DVInformed change is a whole of family approach
