The intense & majestic red sandstone walls of Uluru, in the Northern Territory of central Australia is today's #dailylandscape. This is a place that I'd always wanted to visit. I got there in 2012 after heavy rainfall, so the bush was brilliant green. #Dreamtime #sacredlandscape

In Feb this year, the Thames Valley had heavy rainfalls & when this happens we are reminded of the flood plains, as green meadows are transformed into standing lakes. This view is over Dorchester on Thames from Round Hill at Wittenham Clumps in South Oxfordshire. #dailylandscape

Today's #dailylandscape is the section of Wayfarer's Walk above Inkpen, Berkshire. It's also the 300th birthday of Gilbert White, naturalist & writer, who inspired a generation of people like @nicolawriting (who lives in this chalkland), @ChrisGPackham & my father Patrick Dillon.

Today's #dailylandscape is inspired from the tweet by @HenryRothwell. This view is a wonderful patchwork landscape below Adam's Grave which is a Long Barrow at Alton Barnes, Wiltshire. The ploughing below, as I took the photo (2008), changed the field from vivid green to purple.

The Eye of the Horse. For anyone walking around the chalk figure of the Uffington White Horse in Oxfordshire (formally Berkshire), the white, chalk circle keeps a watchful eye on you. When the sun is dipping low behind the downs, the light is extraordinary. #dailylandscape.

#dailylandscape from Australia is on Kangaroo Island which suffered terribly from the forest fires earlier this year. These are the 'Remarkable Rocks'. Huge, wind beaten, granite rock formations perched on the cliff. Some of the rocks reminded me of a Barbara Hepworth sculpture.

1st of July 1916, 104 years ago, the crater of La Boisselle was blown at the start of the Battle of the Somme. I flew over the Lochnagar Crater in 2013. This landscape had a big impact on me. It's a scar that is forever etched into the chalk. #dailylandscape #battleofthesomme

'Home Sweet Home' for today's #dailylandscape. The edge of the Berkshire Downs in Aston Upthorpe, Oxfordshire (nee Berkshire pre 1975). Rolling farmland, chalk landscapes and the sound of skylarks. These hills are called The Lids.

Today's #dailylandscape is from the hauntingly beautiful, Outer Hebridean Isle of Harris in Scotland. If memory serves me well, this seascape was taken from the road, not far from Seilebost. I loved the rugged, open landscape of this island and all of its rich history.

Happy Sunday. The West Coast of the 'Emerald Isle' is home to THE most breathtaking landscapes. I visited here in 2009 while visiting family. These views are from along the Conor Pass in County Kerry which is one of the highest mountain passes in Ireland. #dailylandscape

Today's #dailylandscape is the view from the Isle of Portland in Dorset, walking along the coastal path, looking towards the mainland. The famous Portland limestone in the cliffs is striking. Nationally rare plants are here and it's a bird spotters paradise. #isleofportland

Inspired by the likes of #dailypebble & #dailysarsen etc, I'm starting a #dailylandscape (probably already a thing). I have many photos of landscapes sat dormant on my hard drive, so happy to share. This is the eastern desert of the UAE near the village of Mleiha & Fossil Rock.
