There is #PrivacyZuckering #darkpattern at play here (regulated by #CCPA #IRDAI) which led to unnecessary private data getting extracted. Then there is breach of #DPDP act (regulated by #MEITY) where the current insurer compromised your extracted data and a violation of @TRAI Unsolicited Commercial Communication rules by various insurers who called. Classic example of how a typical consumer suffers in India. And no regulator is focused on solving it for the consumer in entirety. @JoshiPralhad @JM_Scindia @AshwiniVaishnaw @SecretaryMEITY @inidhikhare all need to act !

And please calculate penalties based on number of tickets/bookings impacted rather than a flat penalty which in the case of Spicejet is probably lower than the investigation cost.

The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has imposed a penalty on SpiceJet airlines for deploying deceptive "dark patterns" on its flight booking platform and directed the airline to permanently discontinue default-consent practices. The action reinforces that consumer consent must always be explicit, informed and freely given.
