DigiByte produces a block every 15 seconds. Bitcoin takes about 10 minutes. A block is a batch of transactions the network agrees on. Until your payment is in one, it is broadcast but not settled. Most services wait for a few blocks before treating a payment as final, so the difference is real. On $DGB that wait is under a minute. On a 10 minute chain it is closer to an hour. That gap is the difference between paying for something in a shop and waiting for a bank transfer. The tradeoff is that faster blocks mean more of them. Twelve years in, that is over 23 million blocks and a chain that takes real work to store.
