Final day of #EatSuffolk. Redpoll stew, Savoy Cabbage (Lincs) roast Suffolk spuds and carrots. A warming end to a delicious month. Time to write about it now.
The whole ensemble with local Mash potato, a bit of Cambridgeshire cabbage and a blob of Norfolk Mustard. #EatSuffolk with added East Anglia.
On the penultimate day of #EatSuffolk, national treasure Mrs N has popped a pheasant, chicken, leek and mushroom pie in the oven. Easy for the hard of thinking to recognise that this is indeed a pie too.
Total cost- virtually nil, its either leftovers or fresh game.
Day 29 of #EatSuffolk. Red Poll Rib Eye steak (@TbWatkin), Lincolnshire rocket, grated Suffolk Gold cheese (@FenFarmDairy) chips via McCain!
Day 28 of #EatSuffolk roast chicken (Hog and Hen, Stonham Aspal) with roasted local root veg (@EoECoop) and a tomato, smoked bacon (@PalfreyHall) and garlic sauce. Approx £3.80/serving, food miles- a lot less than an Avocado
Day 27 of #EatSuffolk. A casserole of @PalfreyHall pork sausages, local 🥕 and 🌰, Capel 🍄. Furrin Passata, mashed Suffolk spuds. Cost about £1.80/ serving. Red 🍷 courtesy of 🇫🇷.

Day 24 of #EatSuffolk. Yesterday's roast beef is today's chilli. Last of the homemade passata and dried 🌶. Admittedly the kidney beans are furrin. Low food miles, no hair shirts.
Day 23 of #EatSuffolk. Wonderful, Topside of Redpoll beef (@TbWatkin) just going into the oven for a couple of hours to pot roast in Capel mushrooms and Sunnyside shallots and carrot, game stock and port (furrin). Bar the port, food miles add up to a mere 20.

Trust me, roast teal on a slice of homemade bread, fried in duck fat, is indeed the lunch of champions. #EatSuffolk (I shot the Teal in Norfolk to be honest)
I've spent a fascinating morning on a tour around @TbWatkin's and his father's farm. Heritage wheat varieties grown for thatching straw, small fields, big hedges and old grass pastures where the Red Poll cattle graze. I bought all this lot to fill the freezer. #EatSuffolk
Off to visit @TbWatkin and buy some of their Red Poll beef. One cannot live on Game alone. #EatSuffolk

Day 19 of #EatSuffolk shin of beef stew (@PalfreyHall), carrots, parsnips and onion from Sunnyside farmshop Rickinghall, wild and basmati rice from Lord knows where, but not Suffolk.
@Essexbeano I am sure they will all embrace the #EatSuffolk mantra and cast aside these pulse ridden faddish diets.
Day 18 #EatSuffolk . In January local produce lends itself to low and slow cooking. Mrs N (national treasure) has made a shin of beef stew and I crowned out 8 brace of pheasants this morning for a casserole. It isn't fast food which could be a challenge for many busy families.
Day 16 of #EatSuffolk. Carrot, parsnips and spud from Sunnyside farmshop Rickinghall roasted in @HillfarmOils. Chicken thigh casserole, Capel Mushroom, Passata (Italy), Peppers (Spain) ingredients @EoECoop. Cauliflower cheese (@HJfinecheeses).
No point wearing a hair shirt.
