프리 내셔널스(Free Nationals)는 미국의 4인조 R&B·펑크 밴드로, 싱어송라이터 앤더슨 팩(Anderson .Paak)의 라이브 밴드로 활동해 온 뛰어난 실력의 뮤지션들로 구성돼 있습니다. 팀 이름인 프리 내셔널스는 콜럼버스 이전 북미 대륙에 존재했던 원주민을 의미하며, 정통 펑크 장르의 정체성을 지키겠다는 의미를 담고 있기도 합니다.
밴드로서의 본격적인 활동을 알린 첫 정규 앨범 [Free Nationals](2019)는 다니엘 시저(Daniel Caesar), 맥 밀러(Mac Miller), 칼리 우치스(Kali Uchis) 등 화려한 아티스트들과의 협업으로 더욱 유명해졌는데요. 이 앨범은 2020년 그래미 어워드 최우수 프로그레시브 R&B 앨범 부문 후보에 올랐고, 수록곡은 누적 스트리밍 5억 회 이상을 기록하며 대표작으로 자리 잡았습니다. 또한, 같은 해 진행된 앨범 발매 기념 투어는 전 회차 매진을 이뤘고 이후에도 레드 핫 칠리 페퍼스(Red Hot Chili Peppers), 허비 행콕(Herbie Hancock)의 무대에도 함께 오르며 최근 가장 트렌디한 밴드 중 하나로 거론되고 있습니다.
