We were honored to spend time with our #FundFamily member, Dan Lasko, at the @Sept11Memorial. It was an incredibly special day, and we look forward to sharing more about it soon.
The events of 9/11 acted as a call to service for thousands across the United States and continue to inspire the next generation to serve their country as well. We recently welcomed Corporal Daniel Lasko, USMC retired, who enlisted in the military on September 11, 2001, for a tour of the #911Memorial & Museum.
Serving as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps in 2001, Lasko was medically retired in 2005 following an ambush in Afghanistan that ultimately cost him his left leg below the knee. Since his military service, Lasko has earned an associate degree in criminal justice, completed a two-year fellowship with the House of Representatives through the Wounded Warrior Fellowship Program, and partnered with Northwell Health in the development of a 3D printed swimming prosthetic. He has also partnered with Pedigree dog food for their “Feed the Food” campaign, and starred in a national commercial and documentary.
An adaptive athlete, Lasko has competed on several sports teams throughout the U.S. and the world, including the Wounded Warrior Amputee softball and football teams. Dan’s most recent competition was in Japan representing the United States in the World Physically Challenged Baseball tournament in 2018. He also competes in marathons and triathlons as part of the @SemperFiFund's sports program, Team Semper Fi.
A testament to unwavering commitment, Lasko’s story exemplifies the enduring spirit of service and resilience inspired by the unforgettable legacies of all first responders and service members who answered the call to serve on 9/11.
