I am becoming very alarmed by the reckless disregard this government has for the climate crisis, the ongoing heatwave and drought, and threatened food shortages. They seem to have the attitude, ignore it and it will go away. I am not merely talking about the Labour Party and the PM Andy Burnham, I am talking about the government. Because the attitude of other parties, like the Conservative Party, Reform etc, is even worse. In reality this is just a continuance of the uniparty, with their being little difference between the parties that follow neoliberalism. Let me briefly explain. Food shortages, which are threatened globally, not just in the UK don't just mean limited supplies in the shops, they mean rocketting food hyperinflation. The UK gets roughly half its food from overseas. But as we can see, Europe and other parts of the world are being hit by heatwaves and exreme weather. The Super El Nino is building up and will probably peak in the winter, which is forecast to cause major disruption to food supplies around the world to 2028. So it is not simply a matter of the UK making up for food shortages by buying elsewhere, as there are likely to be food shortages elsewhere. As we live in a free market economy and food is a tradeable economy, shortages in supply, mean rapidly increasing prices. Most reports about food shortages, fail to mention the possibility of food hyperinflation. I see no evidence that the UK government or other Western governments, understand the implications of this. Farming and other lobbying groups have been putting pressure on government for quite some time, to develop a food security strategy for the UK, but government has just refused and ignored these calls. https://t.co/dueGZx6KNe
