London's FTSE 100 ended Thursday's session on a strong footing, climbing 68.26 points, or 0.7%, to close at 10,529.89 as easing oil prices boosted hopes that inflationary pressures may continue to moderate. The domestically focused FTSE 250 also finished higher, gaining 59.89 points, or 0.3%, to 23,161.41, while the AIM All-Share underperformed, slipping 0.7%. Among the standout performers in London, 3i Group jumped 11% after its key investment, Dutch discount retailer Action, reported encouraging sales growth. Housebuilder Barratt Redrow rose 4.6% after a major shareholder called for a substantial increase in share buybacks to unlock shareholder value. On the FTSE 250, easyJet gained 6.6% after agreeing to provide potential bidder Castlelake with limited access to commercial information following the rejection of its latest takeover proposal, raising hopes that an improved offer could emerge. Elsewhere, Moonpig rose 2.5% after reporting better-than-expected annual results, increasing its dividend and announcing a new share buyback programme, while ITV added 3.1% following reports that Sky has agreed terms to acquire its broadcast and streaming business.
