One of our standout submissions from WA recently was the Kimberley Rockhole Frog, recorded by Malcolm Brown.
Every frog call recorded with #FrogID helps improve our understanding of Australia's unique frog fauna, including remarkable species like this. Thanks, Malcolm!

A big thank you to Miranda Braakhuis for recording the call of this Common Mist Frog (Mosleyia rheocola) in north QLD with #FrogID.
Once found throughout the Wet Tropics, this species has experienced severe declines due to the amphibian chytrid fungus.

We're excited to receive another recording of the threatened Northern Heath Frog (Rawlinsonia littlejohni) from NSW by Sophie poole.
With just over 120 records in the #FrogID database, every recording helps improve our understanding of where this Endangered frog persists.

🐸 Something exciting is hopping your way.
We've been working behind the scenes on improvements to #FrogID, including a new feature called FrogID AI, providing faster species suggestions for your recordings. Get ready to update your app in October: https://t.co/OkBsmvtd7C

🐸 A single #FrogID recording from QLD has set a new record, with 14 frog species detected! Even more impressively, nearly half of the species heard in this recording, like the Crucifix Frog, have no previous records from the area. Thanks for your submission, Satoku!

From the outer suburbs of Brisbane, Vincent submitted this fantastic recording of a Copper-backed Toadlet (Pseudophryne raveni) 🐸
While #FrogID identifications are based on the audio component, we always enjoy seeing photos of the frogs behind the calls. Thanks, Vincent!

🐸 Tree Frog taxonomic update!
FrogID now reflects the latest revision of Australo-Papuan tree frogs (Donnellan et al. 2025), updating all 122 Australian tree frog profiles and requiring the revalidation of almost 600,000 #FrogID records! Thank you for your patience.

Jane has been using #FrogID to monitor frogs in the ACT, including the threatened Green and Golden Bell Frog, reintroduced earlier this year. 🐸 Pictured is habitat for the species and a frog sauna, which research suggests may help some frogs fight chytrid fungus.

🐸 1.5 million frog records!
Congratulations to Paulina, whose recording of a Crawling Toadlet from #WesternAustralia became #FrogID's 1.5 millionth verified frog record.
Thank you to everyone helping build Australia's largest frog biodiversity dataset, one frog call at a time.
The high pitched ‘whoop-whoop’ call of this Northern Spadefoot was recorded by Daniel in Kakadu, NT. Male frogs will float in breeding habitat and inflate their bodies as they call during the breeding season. Thanks for recording this fantastic frog call with #FrogID, Daniel!
North QLD has been delivering some fantastic #FrogID recordings lately, and some impressive frog photos! Pictured here is the Critically Endangered Kuranda Tree Frog. A big thanks to FrogID user 'Sticky Frogs' for sharing this wonderful encounter and for ongoing recordings.

What a fantastic FrogID encounter! 🧡🐸 Jye spotted these incredible Orange-eyed Tree Frogs while recording their calls with #FrogID in Shoalhaven region of New South Wales. Since 2017, FrogID contributors have submitted more than 6,000 records of this species.

Found in the Pilbara region of WA, the Gorge Toadlet (Pseudophryne douglasi) is a small frog that likes to live near rocky gorges, creeks and springs in arid landscapes. With only 20 recordings of this species in the national #FrogID dataset, keep an ear out for its call.
FrogID is filling data gaps!
An excellent recording of a Large Toadlet (Pseudophryne major) by Jo Davis came from regional Queensland, adding a brand‑new grid cell to the #FrogID database.
