Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has filed a writ petition in the Court of Appeal seeking an order preventing his arrest or detention in connection with investigations into the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks. Rajapaksa says he learned through media reports that the Fort Magistrate’s Court had imposed a travel ban on him in relation to investigations stemming from allegations made by Asad Moulana in the Channel 4 documentary on the Easter attacks. 2. He argues that there is a likelihood of bias in the ongoing investigation and claims that any attempt to arrest or detain him would be illegal, irrational, unreasonable, disproportionate and in violation of natural justice and his fundamental rights. 11.
