Fr. Nicholas Martell, parochial vicar of St. Mary’s Cathedral in Portland, encourages all Roman Catholics to learn the ordinary prayers of the Mass in Latin, including the Gloria, Sanctus and Agnus Dei, and to become familiar with Gregorian chant, which the Second Vatican Council said should be given “pride of place” in the liturgy. He reiterates that Latin is a treasured part of the Church’s patrimony, uniting Catholics across cultures and backgrounds.
A hurricane is headed straight for my Archdiocese. Archbishop Rivituso went to the Gulf to beseech God to protect us.

On November 3, voters will get the opportunity to restore pro-life values to the Missouri Constitution. If passed, Amendment 3 would substantially limit the number of abortions performed in our state.

Blessed Good Shepherd Sunday 🙏🏻🕊 🐏🕊🙏🏻

The Fourth Sunday of Easter is known as “Good Shepherd Sunday” because the Mass reading is taken from the Gospel of John, where Jesus uses the imagery of a shepherd guiding and guarding his flock to describe His relationship with those He has redeemed: “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep” (Jn. 10:11). The communion antiphon for this Mass reads, "The Good Shepherd is risen! He who laid down his life for his sheep, who died for his flock, he is risen, alleluia." Good Shepherd Sunday is also recognized as the World Day of Prayer for Vocations, where the faithful pray that God will send them good and holy priests who, following the example of Christ, will lay down their lives for His sheep.

The Holy Father’s challenge to Catholic politicians: Defy your party when truth is at stake. Are they serving God or just a political agenda? A pretty solid call to follow the natural law and an implicit condemnation of most of our governing class.

Thank you, Cardinal Burke, and let us all pray for Pope Leo in his effort to be a force for unity in the Church, and the entire world.
For many Indians (or Native Americans or First Peoples), Catholicism has been the faith of their fathers for centuries.
🚨 BREAKING: Canadian Cardinal: Catholics shouldn't use 'Pride' symbols—they're 'contrary to God’s divine revelation' 🚨
Frank Cardinal Leo, Archbishop of Toronto, spoke out strongly against Catholics who use "misguided and inadequate" symbols in the month of June that "do not represent us as Catholics but rather contribute to confusion, distortions and ambiguities about what the Catholic faith truly teaches regarding the human person, human nature, and natural moral law."
Rather, they should turn to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, he said, "one of the most profound and enduring symbols in Catholic devotional life as it encapsulates the depth of Christ’s love for humanity."
The statement, dated June 1, was posted on the Archdiocese of Toronto's website on May 29.
"We need to make sure that the symbols we use are consistent with our Catholic faith and not borrowed from ideological fora, promoted by lobby groups and endorsed by political movements," Cardinal Leo continued.
"We ought to honour and respect our traditions and not compromise the integrity of the faith by using symbols that are contrary to God’s divine revelation."
"We do good to use our own symbols to tell our own story without resorting to trendy, misguided and inadequate symbols that do not represent us as Catholics but rather contribute to confusion, distortions and ambiguities about what the Catholic faith truly teaches regarding the human person, human nature, and natural moral law."

Mary, Mother of our Lord, Mother of the Apostles, and Mother of the Church, please guide and protect our blessed Cardinals. Veni, Sancte Spiritus!

Catholics are strong in Missouri.
We need stronger statements from the pulpit.

More than $19 million has been raised to enshrine abortion in the Missouri Constitution. Largest donations come from out-of-state special interest groups.

One week after the Catholic Church in the United States came together in historic numbers to celebrate our Lord at the National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis, I was thoroughly appalled to see him mocked as part of the opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games in Paris.
The Olympic opening ceremonies’ blasphemous mockery of the Last Supper must be condemned not because it is culturally insensitive but because it offends God. Let us pray in reparation and for conversion. @FWdiocese @NolanCatholic @USCCB @americamag
