KITCHENER, ONTARIO - On July 31, 2026, at approximately 8:20 p.m., officers responded to reports of gunshots near Duke Street East and Scott Street. Investigators determined that a confrontation occurred between several individuals before shots were fired. All parties fled the area before police arrived and no injuries were reported. Investigators believe this was a targeted incident. Police have released photos of four males they are seeking to identify, believing they may have information relevant to the investigation, and are asking anyone with dash camera, security camera, or cellphone footage of the area between 8:00 and 8:30 p.m. to come forward. The arrests follow a firearm trafficking investigation conducted by the Durham Regional Police Guns and Gangs Unit that concluded in July 2026. 20M in Cocaine, $2.5M in Cash Seized as Six Charged in GTA Drug Investigation York Regional Police say six people are facing charges following a major drug trafficking investigation that resulted in the seizure of approximately 260 kilograms of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $20 million. Dubbed Project Golden Frog, the investigation was led by York Regional Police's Complex Investigations Unit in partnership with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). The investigation began in May 2026 after the CBSA intercepted a shipment from Panama containing a large quantity of a substance believed to be cocaine. Border officers alerted York Regional Police, who took over the investigation and linked the shipment to a suspect with ties to Kitchener. On June 11, investigators arrested three suspects and executed search warrants at a residence and a storage locker in Kitchener. Police say they seized proceeds of crime, including approximately $2.5 million in cash. A second round of search warrants was carried out on June 17 at a residence, business and storage locker in Kitchener. Two more suspects were arrested, and investigators seized additional suspected cocaine along with more cash. The sixth and final suspect was arrested on June 23 and charged with possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000. In total, police say the investigation led to the seizure of 260 kilograms of suspected cocaine, valued at approximately $20 million on the street, as well as millions of dollars in alleged proceeds of crime.
