Trump is trying to keep Americans employed, Jay. He’s putting Americans first, as we all should.
We have plenty of people here legally who can do those jobs already.
You’re just concerned they won’t for you.

#Trump Administration Proposes Ending 60-Day Grace Period for H-1B Visa Holders
The Trump administration is proposing a major change to the U.S. immigration system that could significantly affect foreign skilled workers, including thousands of Indian professionals on #H1BVisas.
The Department of Homeland Security has proposed eliminating the 60-day grace period that currently allows certain temporary visa holders to remain in the United States after losing their jobs while searching for new employment or making arrangements to leave the country.
If the proposal is approved, H-1B workers could be required to leave the #UnitedStates soon after their employment ends, rather than getting up to 60 days to find a new employer or transfer their visa sponsorship.
The 60-day grace period was introduced in 2017 and has become an important safety net for foreign workers who suddenly lose their jobs. The additional time can also help families arrange housing, children’s schooling, travel and relocation.
The proposed change could also put greater pressure on U.S. employers, as companies would have less time to complete immigration-related formalities when laying off foreign workers.
The impact could be particularly significant for Indian professionals, who make up a large share of H-1B visa beneficiaries. The U.S. technology, consulting and IT services sectors rely heavily on the H-1B programme to recruit skilled international workers.
The proposed rule could also affect several other visa categories, including L-1, O-1, H-1B1, E-1, E-2 and E-3 workers, as well as certain TN professionals from Canada and Mexico.
The Trump administration says companies should give qualified American workers greater opportunities. However, businesses and immigration experts have warned that specialised foreign talent may not always have an immediate replacement in the U.S. workforce.
Importantly, the proposal is not yet law. The Department of Homeland Security is expected to allow a 60-day public comment period, after which it could decide whether to finalise, modify or withdraw the proposal.
If implemented, the change could significantly alter the situation for foreign professionals who lose their jobs in America.
For Indian H-1B workers, losing a job could become an urgent immigration issue—with far less time to find a new sponsor, secure another legal status, or prepare to leave the United States.
