Every living being is naturally driven by certain inherent tendencies. Ants display remarkable selflessness, gathering food for their community even at the cost of their own comfort. A cow shows such deep affection for her calf that she becomes restless when it is out of sight. Dogs demonstrate extraordinary loyalty, often beyond what we commonly see in human relationships. In the same way, we too are influenced by the tendencies of our own nature. Merely deciding to act against our inherent nature is not enough, for those deeply rooted inclinations will continue to influence our actions. The spiritual path, therefore, is not about suppressing our nature, but about elevating and redirecting it. Instead of using our abilities and tendencies for worldly enjoyment, we can dedicate them towards God.
