Pune Police To Enforce 100% Ban On Plasma, Pressure Mid Sound Systems During Ganeshotsav Pune, August 27, 2026: Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar said the use of plasma and pressure mid sound systems will be completely prohibited during Ganeshotsav celebrations, following concerns over their high decibel levels. Kumar said all Ganeshotsav celebrations must be conducted in accordance with guidelines issued by the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB). Testing of sound equipment has also been carried out at the Pune Police Commissionerate. According to the Police Commissioner, discussions have been held with Ganesh mandals regarding the use of plasma, pressure mid and laser systems, with mandals indicating that they would refrain from using these systems during the festivities. The police are also discussing limits on the number of sound boxes that can be used during immersion processions. Ganesh mandals have proposed using four bass and four top speakers during the immersion procession, with no increase beyond this limit. Some mandals, however, have requested permission to install six bass and six top speakers at open spaces where stationary programmes are being held.
