HIMMATWALA: A "1.8/10" Disaster

13 years ago, I watched HIMMATWALA in Shivani theatre, Kothapet, Hyderabad.
This is an official remake of the 1983 film #Himmatwala, directed by K. Raghavendra Rao, which itself was a remake of the 1981 Telugu film #OorukiMonagadu.
Usually, when an old movie is remade, the story is adapted to suit the current times. However, the specialty of this film is that it deliberately stays rooted in the past. It attempts to be a nostalgic tribute to 1980s Bollywood masala cinema, with over-the-top melodrama and action-comedy elements.
Unfortunately, none of it worked for me.
The film felt loud, outdated, and consistently boring. There was hardly anything engaging or entertaining throughout. The performances didn’t help either—no actor managed to leave an impression.
The movie has an IMDb rating of 1.8/10, which reflects its poor reception.
Overall, it’s one of the most boring movies I’ve watched in theatres.
