#Mizoram has been officially declared #insurgency-free after the last remaining militant group, the #Hmar People’s Convention (Democratic) [HPC(D)]—Lalhmingthanga Sanate faction—laid down arms. Around 43 cadres surrendered during a formal ceremony, marking their return to mainstream society.
This follows a peace agreement signed on April 14, between the group and the Mizoram government after multiple rounds of talks.
The HPC(D) faction was considered the last active #InsurgentOutfit in the state, and its disbanding effectively ends decades of low-level insurgency linked to Hmar community demands.
With this development, Mizoram enters a new phase focused on peace, stability, and development, with the government emphasizing rehabilitation and integration of former militants.
