#HEIF

🎉📸 #PHP image processing just got even better! The getimagesize() function now supports #HEIF/#HEIC images - those space-saving formats #iPhone has been using for years.
No more third party libs to deal with this format. Another great addition 👏
Curious about details? 👇
🔧 So, PHP now recognizes HEIF files by checking the 'ftyp' box signature at bytes 4-7, followed by brand identifiers like 'mif1', 'heic', or 'heix'. This is clean detection without heavy parsing. It's fast.
📊 What you get: getimagesize() returns width & height, a new IMAGETYPE_HEIF constant, proper #MIME type "image/heif", plus the usual bits/channels info.
🎯 HEIF images leverage the existing #AVIF handling code since both use similar container formats. One parser, multiple formats 🤝
⚡ Zero dependencies: This is pure PHP core functionality - no external libraries, no compilation flags, no hassle. Just works out of the box in PHP 8.5+

Apple
