𝘚𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘐𝘐: 𝘍𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘙𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘉𝘭𝘶𝘦 𝘌𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘮𝘺 𝘊𝘰𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘐𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘢 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘈𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘢 highlighted the growing importance of sustainable and implementation-oriented Blue Economy partnerships between India and Africa, with emphasis on climate resilience, maritime governance, fisheries, ocean innovation, and institutional cooperation.
Chairing the session, Amb. S. T. Devare, Chairman, RAC, RIS, emphasized maritime security and the Blue Economy as central pillars of the India–Africa partnership ahead of the forthcoming India-Africa Forum Summit. He highlighted the need for stronger implementation mechanisms, institutionalized cooperation, and enhanced private sector participation through initiatives such as AIKEYME and MAHASAGAR.
Prof. V. N. Attri, Director, International Centre for Indo-Pacific Studies @KUKurukshetra, underlined the importance of sustainability, climate resilience, and ocean governance in Blue Economy cooperation. He called for deeper collaboration in low-carbon maritime infrastructure, AI-driven maritime technologies, and climate-resilient fisheries.
Joining online, Prof. Micheni J. Ntiba, @uonbi Kenya, emphasised the need for stronger India–Africa cooperation in sustainable fisheries, aquaculture, marine spatial planning, and ocean literacy. He also called for stronger policy alignment and institutional reform to address ecosystem governance and food security challenges.
Prof. @BeriRuchita, Senior Fellow @vifindia, highlighted Africa’s increasing strategic importance for India and urged stakeholders to move towards implementation through institutional cooperation, research partnerships, capacity building, and industry collaboration.
Dr. (Cdr.) P. K. Srivastava, Scientist G @moesgoi, outlined India’s transition towards implementation-driven Blue Economy initiatives through programmes such as Sagarmala, Deep Ocean Mission, and PM Matsya Sampada Yojana. He further highlighted the role of marine spatial planning, ocean data platforms, marine biotechnology, and ecosystem-based governance in ensuring sustainable maritime growth.
The session underlined the importance of advancing practical, sustainable, and climate-resilient India–Africa Blue Economy cooperation through innovation, institutional coordination, and long-term strategic partnerships.
