Thing I was so happy to see today during the first official test for the new IndyCar was how 50% of the invited media were at least 30ish or younger. Couple OGs as well, but critically, there were a number of newer members of the media onsite to document the day. VERY important.

El 1 de agosto de 1993, Nigel Mansell conseguía su única victoria de 500 millas.
Quedándose muy cerca de ganar en su estreno en superspeedways en Indianapolis, el campeón mundial de F1 dominó la Marlboro 500 en el Michigan International Speedway.
Llegando a la 10ª ronda de la temporada con hambre de triunfo por su espina clavada en el IMS, el león británico destrozó a toda la parrilla aquel día. Perdiendo la P2 con Arie Luyendyck en la salida, la cual recuperó en la vuelta 3, se lanzó a por su compañero del Newman/Haas Racing (nada más y nada menos que Mario Andretti) para arrebatarle el liderato en la vuelta 28. A partir de ahí, no volvió a soltar la punta de la carrera hasta la 🏁 de la vuelta 250, llegando incluso a doblar a toda la parrilla durante un tiempo. Mario Andretti, quien trompeó al salir de una de sus paradas en boxes, fue el único que se pudo desdoblar de 'Red 5' para completar un apisonador 1-2 del equipo de Paul Newman y Carl Haas.
La imagen icónica vino justo después en el 'victory lane', donde se pudo ver a un Mansell de 39 años completamente descompuesto al bajarse del coche mientras que el incombustible Andretti, de 53 años, estaba más fresco que una lechuga. 😂

Teams won start testing the new 2028 INDYCAR until after the 2027 season. INDYCAR VP Mike O'Gara goes through the testing timeline that starts today with initial tests on the IMS road course with Alexander Rossi today and Alex Palou tomorrow. Won't test in rain but will in damp.

I asked about the lifespan of the IR28 today.
The tub will have a shorter life than the DW12, with visual updates planned every three years.
