@it_Rutie This MUMUcious girl that doesn't know anything other than FUFU.... Who told you that, @PeterObi lost nah? Why did @inecnigeria switch off #IREV??? Carry your nons*nse FUFU brain comot from here jaaare
@lazzdizz @jeffphilips1 In such a case all the forms EC8A will be altered and signed: every political party agent will have the same altered form.
What I don't buy is that such agent has his own EC8A, and then sat down and watched as an altered EC8A was sent to INEC for display on the #IReV portal.
@nyerishii As far as #IREV is not used or not working... Association of Past Criminals #APC must rig the #ELECTION

@Mallam_jabeer Tinubu signs Electoral Amendment Act 2026. All eyes on telecoms for real-time uploads. Ensure EC8A is present, signed & stamped at polling units before IReV upload. No moving forms after voting. Stay vigilant. #BVAS #IReV Follow @iamblacklegendculture @maduka78

One of the most prominent and politically charged trending topics in Nigeria on X (and broader social media) right now is the recent amendment to the Electoral Act, specifically around the electronic transmission of election results (often tied to hashtags like #IREV, #OccupyNASS, or discussions around the Senate's handling of the bill).
This has sparked intense debate, outrage, and calls for transparency in Nigeria's electoral process, especially ahead of future elections. Here's a detailed breakdown of what's happening, why it's blowing up, and the broader context.
Background on the Electoral Act Amendment
The Electoral Act 2022 was a major reform that introduced provisions for better transparency, including the potential for electronic transmission of polling unit results directly to INEC's IReV (INEC Results Viewing) portal. This was seen as a game-changer after controversies in past elections where manual collation allegedly allowed manipulation.
However, a 2026 amendment bill (Electoral Act 2022 Repeal and Re-enactment Amendment Bill) initially raised alarms when the Senate appeared to backtrack:
Early versions reportedly made electronic transmission optional or secondary, empowering INEC to decide the mode rather than mandating real-time uploads.
This led to widespread criticism that it undermined trust in the electoral system, especially given past accusations of result tampering.
What Changed Recently (February 2026)
In a plenary session around February 10-11, 2026, the Senate revisited Clause 60(3) after public outcry and motions (notably from Senator Tahir Monguno). They approved a compromise:
Electronic transmission is now the primary method — presiding officers at polling units must upload results in real-time to IReV.
But there's a fallback clause: If there's network failure, technical glitches, or other issues, manual collation (using physical Form EC8A) can be used as backup, with results still supposed to be transmitted eventually.
This "hybrid" approach has been hailed by some as pragmatic (accounting for Nigeria's inconsistent internet/power in rural areas) but slammed by many activists and opposition voices as a loophole that could enable manipulation — critics argue it essentially keeps the door open for the same old problems.
President Tinubu is expected to assent to the bill soon, based on Senate leadership signals, which has amplified urgency in discussions.
What is your honest take on this new development?
Y’all shouldn’t let this problem happen again, 🇳🇬💔💯✍️
