Hey there, Cathy, our brilliant Head of Project Potential! 👋🏼 We’re on day 3 of celebrating #ISLAwarenessWeek!
Today we’re sharing some insights we’ve learned from working with Deaf Artists 💙
One of the main concerns for the Deaf artistic community is around having the opportunity to collaborate and network with hearing artists. We have made a continued effort for Interpreters to be available for our meetings to take place with a range of Project artists in 2024.
This year @liannequigley collaborated with some of these artists through a residency onsite and is currently developing new work emerging from this experience.
These meetings were a sharing of expertise, artistic approaches, conceptual ideas and languages and cultures, and lead to a more inclusive environment, sparking new and exciting ideas for everyone involved.
All of this has been made possible by our continued work with the Deaf community. And also with the support of the @_IHREC grant, we were able to establish a number of programmes and initiatives to support the Deaf community, highlight some of the barriers experienced and create more opportunities for Deaf artists.
