Rains and non working portal is the worst combination for income tax return due dates. Hope someday it gets to them and the shift the date permanently to nov or December giving sufficient time for every thing updates , form, etc.

The 167th #IncomeTaxDay celebrations concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. G. Aparna Rao, Member (TPS & R), CBDT. She expressed her gratitude to the Hon'ble Finance Minister, Smt. @nsitharaman, for gracing the occasion and inspiring the Department with her insightful address. She also thanked the distinguished dignitaries, members of the media, and organisers of the event for their presence and support.
#IncomeTaxDay | FM Nirmala Sitharaman’s key remarks:
* FM expressed concern over the large pendency of income tax appeals and asked CBDT to review the appellate process.
* the pace of disposal is not sufficient despite more appeals being disposed of than fresh filings.
* Around 5.4 lakh appeals are still pending; pendency reduced by only about 34,000 cases this year.
* Remarked that “at this pace, it would take a century to clear all pending appeals.”
* Urged the Income Tax Department to clearly distinguish between honest
taxpayers and deliberate tax evaders.
* CBDT has significantly enhanced the e-filing portal’s capacity during the current ITR filing season.
* The portal handled a peak of 1.6 crore interactions in a single day, reflecting improved digital infrastructure. @incometax

Avlokan: The inaugural Annual Report of the FT&TR Division, documenting its work in international tax policy, treaty negotiations, Exchange of Information, MAP and APA, while showcasing India's growing leadership in international taxation.
Manual on Exchange of Information: A practical guide on effective use of information exchanged under tax treaties.
Guidance Note on FATCA & CRS: Updated guidance for Reporting Financial Institutions on due diligence and reporting obligations.
Guidance Note on Crypto Asset Reporting Obligations: India's first comprehensive guidance for Crypto-Asset Service Providers
Annual Report of the APA Programme: Showcasing the programme's progress, including a record 220 APAs (including 84 Bilateral APAs) signed in FY 2025-26.
Re-engineering Tax Governance: The book chronicles the journey of the Directorate of Systems as it transformed the Income Tax Department from paper-based processes to an integrated digital ecosystem that connects taxpayers, institutions and information, making tax administration more seamless, transparent and taxpayer-centric.
