All adventurers value many different things when they do journey. Some like working together with friend and companions the best, others are in it to find new knowledge and discoveries, some inspiration and other just the thrill of adventure.

You can come across a lot of miscellaneous items when adventuring ruins, even discarded keys. Not many has a corresponding lock found, or vice versa, but the thrill of excitement of finding a working key to a lock is an exciting thrill.

Big books for hobbies and information on things ranging from what weather will happen and things to expect in a day are all common fare in the world, compiled by many.
Some people like to keep this information on hand for when they need it.

Sometimes your inventory is also full of random, celestial bodies and assorted orbs stored in a hyperspace dimension that were taken from dreams. Just your every day inventory, totally.

Bringing along dishes for on-the-go eating is important for long-term travels away from settlements and important when making their own meals on the road, rather than relying on rations and such. Make sure they are cleaned well and safely secured!

Although rust can be an unfortunate fate for items, they can still be reworked and recycled. Rusted parts making a good reagents if they are not salvageable, too, so it will never go to complete waste.

Appraisal skills and a keen eye are great for any adventuring party to have. Carrying tools like lenses or books to help determine the value of something - not just monetarily - is a common idea. Other values can be aesthetic/cultural/scientific.
