According to Dr. Makis, he has seen reported doses as high as 2.5 mg/kg/day. He references patients treated by Dr. Shankara Chetty who reportedly used those doses without long-term side effects, although some experienced temporary visual disturbances that later resolved. He references the Castro study involving children with leukemia who reportedly received Ivermectin for six months without long-term side effects. He also discusses anecdotal reports of adults taking it daily for more than a year without long-term toxicity. So why aren't there larger cancer trials? Dr. Makis believes one of the biggest obstacles is economics. Because Ivermectin is an off-patent generic medicine, he argues there is little financial incentive to fund large clinical trials.
