Kouri 35: The Humanitarian Trap of Kaka’s Junta and Haftar’s Militias
Chapter 1: The Camels of Captivity!!!
On this Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Kouri 35, a border post lost in the scorching sands near the Kouri-Bougoudi gold-bearing site, Libyan military authorities handed over 275 prisoners to the Chad-Libya Mixed Force. The so-called General #Chérif_Dadi_Adoum, commander of this joint force, immediately ordered their "humanitarian care": camels for transport, water tankers to quench their thirst.
Behind the veil of security cooperation and humanitarian assistance praised by the regime, this operation resembles a vast net cast to capture #Chadians🇹🇩 present in southern Libya🇱🇾.
Logistically, camels are the perfect tool of the desert: they travel hundreds of kilometers without water, carrying loads and prisoners along invisible tracks. But this "humanitarian gesture" masks a brutal reality: men captured, dehydrated, delivered like livestock to a mixed force.
Geopolitically, Kouri 35 is a nerve center of the Chadian-Libyan border, a zone of contraband, gold panning, and rebel crossings. Strategically, the Mixed Force (established in early 2026 with vehicles provided by Haftar’s camp) serves as a shared armed wing to lock down southern Libya and prevent any backward flow toward Chad.

Why transform a handover of prisoners into a "humanitarian" operation with desert beasts rather than with trucks and rights?
Does the sand drink lies faster than the water from the tankers?
Chapter 2: The Panic of Return
The Kaka regime is trembling. The #FACT has called up its reserves and pardoned deserters. A wave of Chadian fighters could descend from southern Libya. This operation at Kouri 35 is not simple cooperation: it is a trap set to intercept all those who could swell the ranks of the armed opposition before they cross the border.
Militarily, neutralizing potential returns of the #FACT is a classic preventive operation: depriving the enemy of human reinforcements and experienced fighters. Geopolitically, southern Libya remains a historic rear base for Chadian groups. By allying with Haftar’s forces (who control the east and part of southern Libya), the junta transforms a rebel sanctuary into a shared hunting ground. Strategically, this reveals the existential fear of the regime: a #FACT reinforced by massive returns could accelerate the "Douass end." Logistically, controlling hundreds of men in the desert requires mobile means (camels, vehicles) and perfect cross-border coordination—which only an alliance with a powerful local actor like #Haftar makes possible.
Does the fear of the sons' return claim more victims than the war itself?
How far will the junta go to prevent its own citizens from joining those who contest its power?
Is the FACT's pardon a helping hand or the signal of an approaching storm in the dunes?
Chapter 3: The Alliance with the Devil of the Desert
The Chad-Libya Mixed Force is not neutral. It relies on the militias and forces of Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, the strongman of eastern Libya. Yesterday, the FACT fought or negotiated with Haftar depending on the winds of the desert. Today, the Chadian junta openly allies with him to hunt down the same Chadian fighters. This is the height of treason: using a foreign warlord to capture one's own sons in a third country.
Geopolitically, this alliance illustrates the cynicism of power in the region: yesterday's enemies become today's partners when it comes to eliminating a common threat. Haftar gains a Chadian ally to secure his southern border; the junta gains an armed wing to do the dirty work without directly engaging its own troops.
