Alright. Time for this league to be absorbed by the other leagues in Ontario .

7 teams in league. @HockeyCanada @cjhlhockey
Korea University played 3 games vs #BCHL and 4 games vs #AJHL teams.
Thought I'd let Grok Expert have a go at it
#CJHL #JuniorA #Hockey
Korea University (a university side, so typically a bit older than Jr. A rosters) went 1-2 vs. the three BCHL teams and 2-1-1 (OT loss) vs. the four AJHL teams. Goal differential was -4 vs. BCHL and even vs. AJHL
The BCHL slate here included two reasonably strong sides from a tough division plus a mid-tier team; the AJHL slate mixed two weak teams, one good team, and the prior year’s champion.
Blackfalds’ dominance was the single most lopsided result. Exhibition caveats apply (not full regular-season intensity or finalized rosters), and Korea’s older lineup can close some gaps.
A larger sample or regular-season games would be more conclusive, but these box scores + known team quality point to BCHL being a bit ahead.BCHL looks modestly stronger based on these exhibition results, shot differentials, and the specific opponents, though the sample is small.
These were preseason games in late August/early September 2026, so rosters, motivation, and travel fatigue for the Korean team all vary.BCHL results (Cranbrook Bucks, Sherwood Park Crusaders, Blackfalds Bulldogs)
Win 4-3 vs. Cranbrook (shots 26-28). Cranbrook was a mid/lower BCHL team in 2025-26 (20-28-6, 46 points) that made a surprise deep playoff run.hockeydb.comLoss 3-4 vs. Sherwood Park (shots 28-37). Solid mid-tier playoff team (29-19-6, 64 points).
Loss 1-5 vs. Blackfalds (shots 22-38). One of the BCHL’s stronger sides the prior year (37-15-2, 76 points, excellent defense)
BCHL opponents outshot Korea 103-76 and outscored them 12-8. The two Interior East teams (especially Blackfalds) controlled play more clearly.
AJHL results (Devon Xtreme, Olds Grizzlys, Canmore Eagles, Drumheller Dragons)Win 3-0 vs. Devon (shots 40-30). Weak expansion-era team (19-30-6, 44 points, near the bottom).
Loss 1-5 vs. Olds (shots 35-34). Also a weaker side (16-35-4, 36 points). This was the clearest outlier—even shots but a blowout.
OT loss 2-3 vs. Canmore (shots 25-41). AJHL champions the prior season (32-19-4, 68 points, 1st in South)Win 4-2 vs. Drumheller (shots 41-32). Solid playoff team (28-20-7, 63 points, 2nd in South).
AJHL opponents’ total shots were nearly even (137-141) and goals were even (10-10). Korea handled a good Drumheller team well and stayed close with the league champs despite being badly outshot.
Context on the leagues
BCHL is generally viewed as the stronger Junior A circuit in Western Canada right now (more NCAA D1 movement, higher skill reputation in recent rankings). It absorbed several former AJHL clubs in 2024, including powerhouses like the Brooks Bandits. The remaining AJHL is competitive but a step down on average after that split.

Where would the Olds Grizzlys move to if no Sale and the #AJHL approves a relocation.
North/South divisional alignment may be an issue.

Strathmore*
Cold Lake
St. Albert
Airdire
Rocky Mountain House
Innisfail or Sylvan Lake
Athabasca or Slave Lake
Lacombe or Ponoka
Why not Strathmore?
14,000 pop east of Calgary, with the Strathmore Family Centre arena.
*outside BCHL's direct reach
*has strong minor hockey ties
*could draw from Calgary's suburbs without overlapping Calgary Canucks or Okotoks (BCHL)
*Fits South Division perfectly for balance.
Is rink big enough though for seating capacity to pay the bills?
Today, I am talking about the TV show Heated Rivalry. My daughter Isabelle made a video on the show, and people left comments asking her about the shower scene. We all showered together, but the other part of the scene I have never seen. #heatedrivalry #NHL #AHL #NCAA #JuniorA
It’s great to have a Junior A hockey team in Kirkland Lake! Hockey is truly Canadian, let’s keep it that way. Was any of your hockey or sports subsidized? Do you think it should be? #NHL #JuniorA #northernontario #hockey #AHL #ncaahockey
