Palau is an island nation east of the Philippines, which gained independence in 1994. It is made up of a very large number of islands, however #Koror is where most of the inhabitants reside.
Sport is one of the main activities in Palau and is managed by the local Olympic committee, Palau Noc Noc. However, football is not one of the main sports on the island: the #PalauFA was founded in 2002, however it is not currently affiliated with #FIFA and the #AFC, and has only been a member of the #OFC in the past; furthermore, the national team has only participated in very few international matches.
The local championship is not played regularly and consistently: the first edition of which there is evidence is from 2004, the last in 2017, sometimes played with double tournaments played in spring and autumn.
The team members are amateurs and often represent local businesses and communities of foreigners living on the island, who have nevertheless put on exciting and goal-filled matches.
The matches have always been held at the PCC Track & Field stadium, located in Koror, and some of the most successful teams include Team Bangladesh, Kramers FC, Daewoo Ngatpang and Surangel & Sons Company.
