As summer draws to a close and students prepare to return to school 🎒, the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) reminds all drivers to make safety a top priority during the upcoming Back-to-School Month by slowing down, following the speed limit, and being extra careful when driving through school zones 🚶♀️🚶.
LBPD offers the following tips to stay safe around schools:
•Slow down and follow the speed limit.
•Adhere to school policies and procedures for dropping off and picking up students.
•Stop for school buses. Watch for children rushing to catch the bus or exiting.
•Whenever possible, avoid blocking the crosswalk while waiting to make a right-hand turn.
•For parents with children walking or biking to school, teach them safe walking and riding behaviors, such as looking both ways before crossing the street, using sidewalks when permissible and available, and crossing at marked crosswalks with stop signs or signals.

Congratulations to all the #LBUSD track and field athletes who competed in this weekend's @CIFSS Masters event at Moorpark HS this weekend and qualified for state finals next weekend in Clovis.
Special congratulations to the Wilson HS girls who had to compete against a boy who unfairly placed FIRST in triple jump and long jump. A boy who wouldn't have placed at all if he was competeing against other boys.
Studies have shown that pre-pubertal boys show physical advantage over girls in nearly all tested categories, including aerobic fitness, strength, speed, agility. That advantage is lifelong, regardless of puberty blockers and CSH. And that even 12 months of T suppression in males = 5% drop in muscle mass, 0% drop in strength. They remain far stronger than females, even females on T.
