🇨🇦 Canadian PM Carney appointed Omar Alghabra, a politician who once said he “didn’t believe that Hamas wants the elimination of Israel” and who objected to describing the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades as a terrorist organization, to a new federal advisory council on antisemitism.
The appointment comes as Carney himself admits that “Canada’s civic compact is failing Jewish Canadians” amid rising antisemitism across the country.
Another member appointed to the council, lawyer Avnish Nanda, previously represented anti-Israel encampment activists at the University of Alberta, where slogans such as “globalize the intifada” were reportedly displayed during demonstrations.
