@michellebr00ks @MohitHarshMD @ABIMFoundation @aoglasser @RJmdphilly @templeratcliffe @Grebdlog2011 @WrayCharles @SamirShahMD @LannaFelde Ha! I SO miss my usual ranting about #makeusmlepassfail and I’m out of practice!
But phew I’m relieved because we all know that standardized scores equate with clinical performance!
(For those about to freak out this is sarcasm)
@Pahwa @medrants @mmteacherdoc @Microsoft We will have a symptom-based #MedEd curriculum that aims to integrate science into clinical syndromes! Join us at Our New Aspirational Medical School! Of course we will #waivetheMCAT and we were #makeusmlepassfail before it was cool.
@londyloo @bisratw0 @GabrielleGear @kreepklebsiella This is not AT ALL a crazy opinion.
Step 1 has become a mythical thing in medical education without any validity in predicting outcomes.
This is why #makeusmlepassfail is so important (and cannot come soon enough).
@jbcarmody
@londyloo Just because PDs get scores for a few more years doesn’t mean they have to continue to use them in a way never intended.
Let’s all just say it again: #makeusmlepassfail
Even before it is reported that way.
(And gosh I’ve missed that hashtag)
With all this #makeusmlepassfail discussion I am going to ask faculty/residents to evaluate students on what PD's feel is important. What questions would you want to ask about a subintern @AAIMOnline @jbcarmody
All of this is possible. The #MakeUSMLEPassFail movement must be seen as the first domino to fall...a catalyst for transformation. We can do better. Do not waste this opportunity, #MedEd. @MCW_Kern
Important day for #MedEd and most importantly our learners.
Mission half accomplished.
Step 2-CK must follow.

A thought as the dust settles from the #makeusmlepassfail decision today...
This is our moment to design something better. We have 3 years before these students apply for residency so we all have to work together. Our @AAIMOnline friends should help come together and lead!
All right #MedEd friends, how might we transform the match? This #MakeUSMLEPassFail for Step one must be the disruption that leads to true innovative change.
Giving Med twitter major credit for campaigning to change USMLE testing practices—
Step 1 will now be pass/fail starting 2022

Lots of #meded folks will have lots of reactions to today’s announcement about #USMLE & #makeusmlepassfail Friendly reminder to all that change often feels uncomfortable. Before reacting, take time to process things & reflect. This is a huge opportunity for learning & growth.

I am incredibly bummed that I missed this chat tonight. But this @templeratcliffe comment sums it up !
There is no reason to be hopeless or nihilistic about this problem. We can, and must, do better.
#makeusmlepassfail
UME-GME transition is a wicked, but not hopeless, challenge. So much work to be done.
#MedEdChat
Final thought - transformation of UME-GME transition is overdue. UME & GME leaders must work together along with students to co-create. Will take courage & trust. But we don’t need research to tell us the system is broken. Oh, and #MakeUSMLEPassFail #MedEdChat
