The issue of #WasteTyre has sparked concern in the #UK_Parliament, but it has not resonated in India even after a fivefold jump in imports.
Liberal Democrat MP @tessamunt
said in April 2025 in the UK Parliament:
"Every day, the UK exports thousands of tonnes of waste tyres to India," implying that the UK is exporting its pollution to India.
She highlighted that UK tyres exported to India under 'green labels' are ending up in unauthorised pyrolysis units, ravaging the Indian environment and killing people.
She said, according to World Trade data, the UK exported 350 thousand tonnes of waste tyres (currently shipped) to India, out of the UK's total 600 thousand tonnes of waste tyres the Country generates.
Meanwhile, the Indian Govt and its MPs sleep in the Parliament on environmental issues.

Waste Tyre or used tyre (ELTs), is one of the biggest problems the developed countries are facing.
The Western and the Gulf nations, do not burn their trash in their own backyard to protect their environment. They export it to India.
Since 2017, these countries have exported 71 lakh metric tons of waste tyres in India.
And in return, India paid over ₹5,000 crore to over 50 countries bringing their trash to our doorstep. Although India is itself struggling with the waste tyre and lacks robust recycling infrastructure.

विकसित देशों में वेस्ट टायर एक बड़ी समस्या है। वे यह कचरा अपने देश में नहीं जलाते बल्कि भारत में निर्यात करते हैं।
विगत वर्षों में भारत में विदेशों से वेस्ट टायर के आयात में पाँच गुना इज़ाफ़ा हुआ है। 2017 से 2024 के बीच 71 लाख मैट्रिक टन भारत आए और बदले में हमने ₹5,000 करोड़ भी दिए।
इस कचरे को भारत में वेस्ट टायर रिसाइकिलिंग यूनिट में वैज्ञानिक तरीके से जलाने का प्रावधान है लेकिन यह नियम प्रभावी रूप से लागू नहीं हैं।
बड़ी मात्रा में आयात किए गए टायर TPO प्लांट्स में प्रोसेस किए जा रहे हैं जहाँ सुरक्षा के कोई खास इंतज़ाम नहीं हैं, और इससे पर्यावरण पर काफी बुरा असर पड़ रहा है साथ ही आसपास के रहवासियों को भी प्रभावित कर रहा है।
