I can feel the fanfic ideas. They both security for idols; Ideum thinks Jaeyi has a crush on the idol Ideum works for but Jaeyi has actually been eyeing Ideum up the entire time hehehe. They do it nasty in a changing room, struggling to remove their suits🤭

Yo solo de verdad espero que apenas Jaeyi cruce esa puerta Ideum lo devore a besos🤤😘😘#nicetoseeyou #vecinosintimos

Jaeyi is most honest in #NiceToSeeYou when he is giving Ideum something. He says he only needs a body but with Ideum his own pleasure keeps gathering around what he can make Ideum feel. He wants to guide him, learn every reaction & be the person who draws him past his shyness.
Jaeyi has always understood himself more easily through the body. Feelings confuse him, while touch gives him something clear to do. Giving becomes a way to be patient, attentive & reassuring without having to name any of it as tenderness. He can care for Ideum while still telling himself that all he is doing is taking the lead.
Ideum makes that attention feel personal bc nothing about his response is polished. His sudden confidence gives way to trembling, embarrassment & trust. Jaeyi once laughed at his innocence, yet he becomes completely absorbed in the honesty of it. Every reaction tells him that Ideum is allowing himself to be affected instead of performing what he thinks Jaeyi wants.
Jaeyi also wants his place in Ideum’s experience to be unmistakable. He notices the possibility of being replaced (thru Ideum playing with himself, Jaeyi is so greedy), needs to know Ideum missed him & visibly softens when Ideum admits how much better Jaeyi makes him feel. He doesn’t only want Ideum satisfied. He wants to be the person Ideum remembers, prefers & waits for. Ideum’s vulnerability gives Jaeyi’s confidence somewhere gentle to go. The body was once how Jaeyi avoided emotional complication. With Ideum, it becomes the first place his tenderness can be seen.

The heart in #NiceToSeeYou keeps appearing wherever Ideum & Jaeyi struggle to say what they feel. Ideum’s scar carries his medical & family history, while the recurring badum makes every new emotion echo through the same place. His heart survived but he still treats it like something dangerous to place in another person’s hands.
Ideum says he has never received love & wouldn’t know how to give it, yet care comes naturally to him. He tucks Jaeyi beneath the blanket, offers him food, notices when he would rather avoid the retreat & tells him to have fun and return safely. Even while waiting impatiently, Ideum considers Jaeyi’s situation before calling. He already knows how to care. He simply doesn’t recognize his quiet way of doing it as loving.
The messages while Jaeyi is away make their closeness feel especially sweet. Jaeyi complains about the group dragging him to the reservoir, tells Ideum when he gets back & promises he will be there soon. Ideum is becoming part of the ordinary rhythm of his day. Jaeyi doesn’t disappear once they stop touching. He keeps telling Ideum where he is & when he plans to return. Let's be real, Jaeyi is down bad. 😌
When Jaeyi is late, Ideum looks beneath his shirt & remembers the promise that Jaeyi will check him himself. His body reacts before Jaeyi even arrives. Ideum presses a hand over the bandage & asks him to hurry, gathering desire, trust & the hope of his return over the scar he usually protects. The fact that Jaeyi didn't learn how to teleport knowing Ideum is in heat...when I catch you, Jaeyi...
Jaeyi hides his own heart in different ways. He says his heart was never in judo, calls passion poisonous & treats feelings like something troublesome. He still keeps the uniform he thought he should throw away. He still asks Ideum whether he has ever cared for someone. He still handles Ideum’s scar with more gentleness than he allows himself when speaking about his own feelings. Ideum expects his heart to become a burden. Jaeyi keeps pretending his can remain untouched. Their tenderness keeps proving both of them wrong.

One of my fav. things about the video call in #NiceToSeeYou is how easily Jaeyi starts meeting Ideum inside the world he usually keeps to himself. Ideum is already on Jaeyi’s contact page, looking at his gym photo & imagining him calling him hyung when he accidentally presses call. He wanted to reach him before he could make himself do it on purpose.
Jaeyi makes the moment private before Ideum even shows his face. Ideum stays on screen, lets Jaeyi see every shy reaction & follows his voice through something they usually share by touch. For someone who has spent years keeping desire safely inside fiction, letting Jaeyi guide his imagination feels so sexy 🙂↕️.
Jaeyi gives just as much away. Someone who matched his usual type could have his whole body without holding his attention. Ideum’s face, his voice saying Jaeyi’s name & one small glimpse of him leave Jaeyi practically drooling. He wants Ideum’s body but he also wants the feeling of being the person Ideum chooses to show it to. The hyung (!!!) dynamic makes them feel even more naturally matched. Ideum loves being addressed as the older one while Jaeyi has the confidence to take the lead. Jaeyi says aloud what Ideum had already been imagining, almost like they had reached the same fantasy separately before finally meeting inside it.
Ideum admitting that Jaeyi’s hands feel better is such a vulnerable little confession. Being alone no longer feels the same after being touched by Jaeyi. Jaeyi has entered the private world Ideum once needed to keep entirely to himself, & Ideum is beginning to want him there. Hurry up & get there then, Jaeyi...

It's kind of funny how #NiceToSeeYou makes imagination a refuge for Ideum & an intrusion for Jaeyi (at the start). Ideum’s inner world gave him somewhere to escape as a child, then became his work, income & identity as an adult. He can build entire experiences through writing while keeping his body, voice & daily loneliness out of reach. His body carries everything imagination helped him survive. The surgery scar remains tied to health, his family’s unhappiness & the belief that his needs damaged the people around him. Writing lets Ideum exist beyond that history. The criticism of his work threatens the one part of himself he trusted. Jaeyi’s confrontation makes the wound even deeper by convincing him that he also imagined Jaeyi’s interest.
“It was all in my head” turns Ideum’s greatest strength against him 🥺. The same mind that gave him a life now appears unreliable. His writing slump threatens his income, independence & ability to endure being alone. In the panel where Ideum fades almost completely into white while his scar remains red, everything he created around himself disappears. The body he blames is the only part left visible.
Jaeyi begins with confidence in the physical world. Judo, exercise, modeling & casual sex all give him clear actions without requiring much emotional interpretation. He assumes desire can be handled through the body & forgotten once it is satisfied. Ideum keeps returning inside his mind. Jaeyi tries being with someone who fits his usual type bc he thinks he's just pent up. He remains detached while imagining Ideum in his place. A real body in front of him has less power than the person who isn’t there.
For Ideum, imagination turns isolation into something he can survive & create from. For Jaeyi, imagination makes absence impossible to ignore. Ideum’s body begins revealing desires his mind is afraid to trust. Jaeyi’s body can no longer protect him from carrying another person inward.

I like how #NiceToSeeYou uses reading & writing as the place where Ideum can say more than he can admit directly. Jiseong notices him always lingering behind & watching, then approaches him in the classroom. Ideum barely speaks to anyone, but The Watchman’s Island gives him something he knows how to share. His interpretation is personal enough to make Jiseong consider returning to a book he had abandoned. For a moment, Ideum’s private inner life becomes audible to another person.
Jiseong’s essay gives Ideum words he carries long after that single encounter. “Misfortune stems from denial” unsettles the explanation Ideum has built around his own life. He wants to tell Jiseong that the essay changed how he understands his misfortune but at graduation he only watches him leave with the green copy of The Watchman’s Island hidden behind his back. The same book that helped Ideum speak becomes what he hides when he can’t. Years later, Jaeyi asks whether Ideum has ever had feelings for someone. In the dream, his heart was racing & he was blushing while talking to Jiseong. His body had registered the feeling even though Ideum never consciously named it.
Jaeyi also reaches him through writing. He reads Ideum’s "If You Cry You Die" LOL & enters a private world where Ideum can describe desire much more freely than he can claim it as his own. When Jaeyi says intimacy can’t be researched like a textbook & has to be felt, he names what books can give Ideum & where they stop. They let him speak from a safe distance. Jaeyi asks him to risk having another person answer. Ideum can explain a novel, carry someone else’s essay for years & write entire worlds around desire. Accepting that those feelings belong to his own life is much harder.

#NiceToSeeYou makes Ideum & Jaeyi visible through opposite parts of themselves. Ideum publishes his private fantasies under a pen name. Readers know his mind without knowing his face, his loneliness or the body he keeps guarded. This is also why their comments are so hurtful to him. Jaeyi studies modeling, so strangers know his body while his thoughts remain inaccessible. Ideum lets the world read his mind while hiding his body. Jaeyi lets the world look at his body while hiding his mind. Our protective babies ❤️🩹
Jaeyi searches Ideum’s novelist name, reads his work & studies his shelves. He wants to understand the person behind an imagination that genuinely shocks him (hehehe). Ideum studies Jaeyi too. He watches what affects him, what makes him soften & what his repeated attention might mean. The criticism of Ideum’s writing makes him want physical experience but Jaeyi also represents the connection Ideum fears he’ll never have. Ideum repeatedly worries about dying broke & alone. Writing gives him income & a way to express himself. It doesn’t give him someone who notices him, returns to him & chooses to stay.
Jaeyi’s first confrontation makes Ideum feel stupid for believing the desire was mutual. He had interpreted Jaeyi’s repeated gaze as genuine interest. The rejection attacks his trust in his own perception at the exact moment he had begun hoping this could become more than another private fantasy (even tho Jaeyi was in denial ).
Distance gives Ideum control. He can make himself visible while imagining Jaeyi’s response. Face to face, Jaeyi can answer him, so Ideum becomes shy & uncertain. Jaeyi is usually drawn to polished, assertive men who already know how to be desired, yet complete access to them leaves him detached. He did not gaf about a hook up LOL. Ideum’s confidence keeps giving way to embarrassment, honesty & trust. Those unguarded reactions hold Jaeyi’s attention.
Other readers know Ideum’s imagination without knowing him. Jaeyi wants the person who created it. Other people admire Jaeyi’s body without knowing what reaches him. Ideum wants his thoughts, attention & tenderness. Their intimacy grows through the parts of themselves everyone else can access without truly recognizing.

Que tiernoo #NiceToSeeYou

Ideum’s sensitive nature will actually be the antidote to Jaeyi’s jaded perspective on his “monotonous” life, & in turn, will hurt so bad when Ideum’s health condition will most likely worse & Jaeyi will finally have something (someone) worth caring about.. #nicetoseeyou

Alguien, por favor dibuje a Jaeyi en esta pose. 🫦
Yo misma lo haría, pero todavía no soy lo suficientemente buena dibujando como para hacerle justicia. Espero algún día poder lograrlo. 🥹

#NiceToSeeYou shows Ideum learning self-blame before he has enough language to understand what happened. As a child he overhears his parents fighting, runs toward the television & imagines himself as the hero defeating monsters. He's a baby 🥺 who prob. understands very little about infidelity or marriage. He understands fear. He knows he is sick, his mother is distressed & something inside their home is falling apart.
The explanation forms as he grows. His treatment, surgery, his mother’s unhappiness & the divorce remain pressed together until chronology begins to feel like causality...he was unwell, everyone suffered, then the family separated. His imagination first translates an adult conflict into monsters a child can defeat. Later that same instinct for making chaos coherent fills the gaps by casting Ideum as the cause.
That history gives his loneliness a moral dimension in his own mind. Ideum doesn’t simply expect people to leave. He expects his needs to make their lives worse. At graduation he stands alone while Jiseong leaves with who I think are his parents & younger sister. Jaeyi is absent from the frame too, leaving a quiet break inside the family image Ideum watches from a distance. Still, Ideum sees a form of belonging he assumes exists more naturally for everyone else.
Jaeyi protects family through guarded fragments. He rarely mentions Jiseong himself & resists when classmates turn their swimming & judo histories into public conversation. Ideum fills family silence by blaming himself. Jaeyi keeps other people from filling his family’s silence for him. Side note - I'm curious to see if Ideum & Jaeyi have any family photos displayed in their homes. The most personal items that we've seen are the judo uniform & books. I want them to take a photo together 🥺.

Reactions... what a delightful thing to see.

I love drawing Ideum. 🥹💖 The original artwork belongs to the author, but I couldn't resist making a chibi version. I hope you like it as much as I do. @MunKkwa thank you for creating Ideum.☺️💖
