The "execution mindset" in most SW companies today prevents us from writing our Epics/Stories as "this is the problem to solve". Instead we describe UNTESTED solutions, and proceed happily even when those solutions UTTERLY fail! And we think we succeeded! 🤦♂️

@avi_schneier @johncutlefish Absolutely. Along with all the other super-reasonable hashtags like #NoProjects, #NoPlanning, #NoBacklogs, #NoComments, #NoAccountability, #NoMetrics, #NoCodeReviews, and of course my personal favorite, #NoVersionControl.
The use of the word "No!" in #NoEstimates #NoBacklogs and #NoProjects reflects the need to create new (yet undiscovered) methods that eschews the static (and stale) old theories that have failed our SW industry since its inception. It is a cry for change, for independence of IT!

This Q often comes up when I talk about #NoBacklogs. If a product person wants to keep a list of "someday" items in their back pocket, I don't see a problem, but put speculative stuff that's likely to be irrelevant in a few months on the backlog? No.
@allenholub But what do with the "someday we should" things that you don't want to forget but definitely don't want to do soon?
In GTD world, you'd put it in the "Someday/Never" folder.

@CodingBeing I haven’t written it down, but I should. Others (like @WoodyZuill) tweet on the topic periodically. It’s really just agile principles taken seriously. Backlogs are part of Scrum, not Agile. Search for #nobacklogs (tho there are many trolls on those threads).

@bencord0 Indeed. I find the #NoBacklogs ideas to be way off-base in terms of practical implications in actual business situations. It seems massively short-sighted to routinely discard items simply because they go beyond an arbitrary age threshold.
Most of our lives is spent around trying to avoid embarrassment and failure. If you skip that part, you'll be 10x faster than the next guy.
