A sleepy bee amongst the sedum, gathering nectar with the last of the day’s energy.
I recognised something of myself in her.
Sleepy too, bumbling about a bit… but purposefully.
Still noticing. Still making. Still seeking what nourishes me.

Yesterday, the Daisy family gathered together.
Tonight, one of them has stepped out to dance.
Bellis perennis — the common lawn daisy — transformed into a tiny fairy from petals, stems and found fragments.

Back home, moving more like a snail than the swifts I recall reeling above Stockholm.
After podiatry and a stroll across sun-baked Martin Down, I drifted back to Sweden — cool lakes, harebells, giant snails.
A silvery trail of memory, waiting to be retraced.

A chalkhill blue, like a fragment of sky.
Its delicate proboscis — a dainty drinking straw — unfurled as it sipped wild marjoram nectar.
It settled long enough for me to admire its wings shimmering with chalky blue, minute drops of amber sunshine and ant-black.

Some evenings the sky writes poetry without words.
It seems to let out its breath with a gentle Sigh.
Cornflower blue. Rose. Amber.
Honeysuckle sweet.
Feather light.
The weight of the day lifts, carried on zephyrs into the dusky night.

Song thrush anvil.
Amber snail shells scattered along a woodland path.
A woodland takeaway, broken open against the same favourite stone.
Even the woodland has dining tables reserved for its regular guests.

At 6am, still fast asleep beneath bramble leaf sheets before the sun climbed high.
I often wonder what butterflies dream of—cuckooflowers, perhaps.

A Hawthorn Shieldbug crossed my pulse, its jewel-like beauty making my heart skip a beat. Later, a tiny toadlet emerged from the road itself.
One a jewel. The other a shadow.
Both asked exactly the same thing of me: simply to notice

Pink-threaded flowers tucked into unfolding leaves, with catkins loosening below — pollen moving through birdsong and air.

Let sleeping logs lie.
A mossy drift, a twist of grain, and suddenly the woodland floor acquires a cast of resting characters — drowsy, watchful, or merely unimpressed by passing humans with cameras.

Rain gathered in the hollow of an empty snail shell. On impulse, I rested a few daisies within it, their faintly pink-tinted rays catching what light the afternoon allowed.
