This time suggesting that the design of several British iconic monuments were inspired by Islam. Well here's a little history lesson for Adil... Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament are both prime examples of 19th century Gothic Revival architecture, designed by Charles Barry and Augustus Pugin. They deliberately revived medieval English and European Gothic styles from Christian cathedrals and civic buildings, not Islamic ones. There is no historical evidence or mention by the architects of any inspiration from the minaret of the Great Mosque of Aleppo or Cordoba. The visual similarities are superficial at best. Pugin drew from earlier English Gothic precedents. The pointed arches in Gothic architecture evolved primarily in medieval Europe. Claiming huge Islamic influence on the Palace of Westminster is a massive exaggeration. Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament are British neo Gothic landmarks, rooted in European Christian architectural tradition, not a secret homage to Syrian or Cordoban mosques.
