We are happy to share that we have started surveying the deepwaters of the Krishna-Godavari (KG) Basin on the East Coast of India. For this, we have partnered with Electromagnetic Geoservices (EMGS), a Norwegian company, to execute a 3D Controlled Source Electromagnetic (CSEM) survey for our exploration campaign in the block. Cairn has been at the forefront of technology adoption for efficient exploration and production in India’s upstream sector. As one of the early adopters of 3D CSEM surveys in India, this collaboration will enhance hydrocarbon detection. The Electromagnetic Geoservices (EMGS) vessel, Atlantic Guardian, has already been sent for sailing and is currently acquiring data using the advanced Deep Blue source system in the KG block. It will continue for over next few weeks, leading to far more accurate results of the deepwater blocks. This strategic step will support our plans to commence deepwater drilling in the East Coast by 2026 across a 3,600 square kilometre area with four gas discoveries and several prospects with multi-TCF potential, further strengthening our vision to contribute 50% of India’s domestic production.
