BREAKING: Freshman Miles Teodecki will start at quarterback for Penn this season, coach Rick Santos told the Philadelphia Inquirer's Hannah Chang. "Miles Teodecki is going to start," Santos said. "We broke the news to the team yesterday. ... It was a quarterback competition from the moment fall camp started." Teodecki is the highest-rated Penn recruit since 2000. He originally signed with Kansas State before mutually parting ways with the Wildcats. 📸: Penn Athletics

Brandon Copeland grew up in Baltimore, raised by a single mom who taught him to budget because she had no choice. "We'd go to McDonald's and only order off the dollar menu, then get a cup of water and go home. At the grocery store, you didn't look at the candy near the checkout. You just knew you couldn't afford it." His high school football coach happened to run a hedge fund. Copeland noticed the man could buy the team 40 pizzas a week, got curious, and asked to visit his office. It was the first time he saw CNBC on a screen. The first time he realized you could think your way to wealth. He held onto that. Copeland went to the University of Pennsylvania, played football, graduated, and then made the NFL as an undrafted linebacker, the hardest way in. He also knew how fast it could vanish. His own grandfather played 11 years in the league and still needed offseason jobs and lived with chronic pain. So Copeland treated every check like it might be his last. He saved more than 90% of his NFL earnings. He invested in dozens of real estate projects and got in early on companies like Lyft and Airbnb before they went public. While teammates stayed quiet about money out of pride or fear, he started talking about it openly in the locker room, the budgeting, the investing, even his own early mistakes. Then he took it further. Copeland went back to Penn, his alma mater, and created a class called Life 101. Real adult money, budgeting, taxes, credit, buying a house, building wealth. The stuff almost nobody gets taught in school. An active NFL player, standing at the front of an Ivy League classroom in the offseason, teaching 19-year-olds the playbook he had to piece together himself. He put the whole mission simply. "It's a shame that if I wasn't a professional athlete, I would never know about these things, because no one would ever tell me. Access to information shouldn't be limited based on how much money you have." He's since taken Life 101 to the public, written a book, and made financial literacy his life's work. The undrafted kid who saved everything now spends his time making sure other people learn how to keep theirs.

No. 52 in our all-time college basketball programs rankings is Penn - the top team out of the Ivy League! The Quakers have made 25 NCAA Tournaments and have won a ridiculous 38 regular season Ivy League crowns. And that is thanks to being the first blue blood in CBB history. Of their 24 Consensus AA nods, 22 came before 1930. Charles Keinath was a 4x nod from 1906-09. The Quakers were pre-tourney champs in 1920 and 1921. But in the NCAA Tournament era, Penn has also been somewhat dominant. They first made it in 1953 and them went on a crazy run going to a dozen between 1970-87 and then 10 more from 1993-2007 with Fran Dunphy there for nine of those. Penn last went this past season. And in 1979, they made the Final Four! From the start of the game until now, there have been very few years where the Quakers haven’t been relevant in the Ivy League, or even on a national stage.

Amazing job from Fran McCaffery and staff. Second year in a row Penn brings in a former high major player. Last year it was TJ Power (who worked out pretty well). This year it is Notre Dame's Sir Mohammed. The 6' 6" combo guard was ranked a top-100 recruit coming out of high school by most outlets. He averaged 5.7 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists coming off the bench last season.
