The Modi govt, which won't let India audit a single rupee of PM CARES, now wants YOUR FINGERPRINT before it lets you buy a subsidised gas cylinder! From TOMORROW, 1 October, every subsidised LPG consumer in India, not just Ujjwala families, must pass biometric Aadhaar authentication to get a refill at the subsidised price. Fail it, and you LOSE your subsidy. You get only a smaller 5 or 10 kg cylinder at the UNSUBSIDISED market price, and only if the agency even has one. About 3 CRORE consumers had still not completed it as of 19 September! First they made the voter PROVE they exist to keep their vote. Now their KITCHEN has to prove it too. A govt that has moved its OWN deadline SEVEN times now wants those 3 CRORE kitchens to pass the test by tomorrow morning.
