#Premise of X should be adult, mature, and consensual fun.
Wedding vows are the #premise
upon which a marriage is built
made with the best of intentions
and hope that the premise
was accurate
but no one is such a wizard
as to predict the future
making the vows a contract
a good contract hopefully a binding one
bound not my chains but love
and learning to find a balance
between romance and day to day real life
is more a task than most realize
and so we learn and adapt
hopefully without losing the romance
but how little we understand
no matter what we say
how growth and or stagnation
can so easily take root
and the contract promises begin to fade
out of selfishness or convenience
so the initial premise begins to crack
fall into disrepair rather than repair
and is left to disintegrate and crumble
Then there are those moments
when Life a greater force than anyone
steps in and squashes the premise
and we are left scrambling
trying to make sense of it all
the contract is voided
leaving us with an undefined helplessness
was the premise incorrect
no
it is simply that we didn't read the fine print
not so much a caveat but a gentle word which is

Since I have to say this in the wake of #Section31's clear failure, I will:
#Premise
Gene Roddenberry's original vision of Star Trek was heavily based in optimism that involved mankind evolving to the point where we get rid of poverty, famine, racism, most adverse medical conditions, and most crime, with the nations of the world finally deciding to get along. General peace on the planet through evolved ideological thinking.
All because we made first contact with an alien species, and realized that there was more life out there worth exploring and interacting with.
So we created a United Federation of Planets, and Starfleet, and decided to trek through the stars to discover new life and new civilizations.
From there, the best Star Trek stories involved presenting a clear moral dilemma that used the sci fi backdrop to address the moral and ethical issues.
All of the above has been obliterated into an unrecognizable franchise soup made of hot mess, with most of the goodwill and cultural impact it used to carry now minimized or completely eliminated.
Because that's what happens when you put someone in charge that understands none of what I said above and thinks an established franchise IP is just a platform to indulge and display their own personal fetishes and agendas.
