The New Testament is concealed in the Old Testament, and the Old Testament is revealed in the New Testament. The Bible isn’t two separate stories. It’s one story told in two parts. When you read the Old Testament, you’ll find promises, prophecies, symbols, and people that all point forward to Jesus. At the time, not everything was fully understood. God was preparing the way for the Messiah, but the full picture hadn’t been revealed yet. Then the New Testament opens, and everything starts making sense. The sacrifices point to Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. The Passover lamb points to the Lamb of God. The priests point to our perfect High Priest. The promises of a coming King are fulfilled in Jesus. What was once a shadow becomes reality. That’s why Jesus told His disciples that the Scriptures were speaking about Him all along. The apostles didn’t invent a new message. They showed how Jesus fulfilled what God had been promising from the very beginning. The Old Testament helps us understand why we needed a Savior. The New Testament shows us who that Savior is. And the New Testament helps us read the Old Testament with fresh eyes. Stories, laws, feasts, and prophecies that once seemed disconnected suddenly fit together because they all lead to Christ. The Bible has one Author, one plan, and one Savior. From Genesis to Revelation, God is telling the same story: His plan to redeem sinners through Jesus Christ.
