Leave it as it is.
There is no finer example of Preston Labour’s leadership & the over hyped, vested interests of the so-called #PrestonModel than this municipally owned building. It should remain standing as a fitting tribute to our city’s leadership.
Preston deserves better.
The building, owned by the council, was first declared unsafe in May 2025 and recommended for demolition. It's been quite the saga since. And due to the ongoing diversion routes for the city roadworks the former Tithebarn will stand a while longer yet.

A few years ago council officers proposed giving away the old courts to a high end developer for apartments - I proposed keeping it, and renovating for new city centre workspace. @prestonlabour backed it and it’s going to be amazing #PrestonModel
We are regenerating another council heritage asset, keeping it in public ownership to create flexible workspace in the heart of the city #PrestonModel

Real community wealth building using public assets for community wellbeing #PrestonModel
One of the main tenets of CWB and the #PrestonModel is public ownership. No profit, any surplus is reinvested in services that meet public need, not shareholder profit…

I am proud to call @MatthewBrownLab a friend. Over the past decade he has been one of the most hard-working and imaginative people in local government in this country.
Here’s to the ongoing success of the #PrestonModel 👇
My friend and colleague @MatthewBrownLab is battling for the future of the Preston Model tomorrow. His visionary and dedicated work to build community wealth through a fundamental rewiring of the local economy deserves better than to have to swim against the anti-Starmer tide. ✊🏼
