Hunts all over the country will be gearing up to head out and kill foxes for the cub hunting season. Over the summer, older or 'unusable' hounds will have been killed by hunts, and the remaining ones will be encouraged to go out and kill fox cubs to get a taste for the main hunting season. Cub hunting usually takes place early morning before it becomes too warm, or at dusk. There will usually be fewer riders who will surround an area where foxes are likely to be such as a copse. They will surround the area in order to turn any fleeing foxes back towards hounds to face a violent and painful death.
