The Battle of Chawinda was not just a battle but the foundation of modern #Pakistan. If that sacrifice had not happened, Pakistan would not have become the middle power it is today, making decisions for the Muslim world. Even #India’s renowned newspaper, Hindustan Times, published a book titled Bravehearts of the 1965 War in which they admitted that India lost the 1965 war in Chawinda:
"The failure at Chawinda automatically ruled out the pursuit of Indian operations to Badiana & Zafarwal & only added to India's mounting pile of woes."
The victory of 1965 belongs to the martyrs of Chawinda. At Chawinda, the pride of the Indian Army the 1st Armoured Division, backed by over 225 Centurion & Sherman tanks & tens of thousands of infantry launched a massive attack to break through our lines. They were met by just 132 Pakistani tanks & a heavily outnumbered force of defenders who refused to yield an inch of sacred soil. Our soldiers had no heavy weapons compared to such a massive enemy force. They had nothing to stop them except their love for Pakistan, the will to win & deep faith in Allah.
When Indian tanks moved forward to take our land, our brave boys did not run away. With nothing else left to stop them, they tied mines to their own bodies & threw themselves right under the tracks of the advancing Indian tanks. They gave their young lives in the dust of Chawinda & Allah accepted their sacrifice. Their courage destroyed over 120 Indian tanks, broke the spirit of the Indian Army & turned Chawinda into the “Graveyard of Tanks” as well as the graveyard of India’s 1965 war ambitions.
