It definitely is a different show. Total #retcon. And they can't even keep up with the new storyline from week to week. Last week Elizabeth took LJ & Allie to the Cafe for muffins, and this week she tortured him by having him there where they were making and tasting jam with jars of sugar everywhere. He was helping make labels for the jars. Poor kid, jars of sugar and sweet jam, as well as fresh fruit, everywhere around him, and he isn't supposed to eat any of it. Last week his mama made dessert for her guests, even though her child can't eat sweets.
As for the "impeccable" mountie. Their whole story last week revolved around him lying to her and everyone else about loving her lemon curd just to appease and impress. Nothing about his relationship with her is genuine. No one in town (outside of Bill and Lucas) knows about his indirect involvement in Jack's death. Jack's brother and mother know nothing about it and think he is "impeccable" too.
This show used to be real-life relatable, where problems and life issues played out naturally as they would in real-life. Now everything is just a plot point that moves on to the next thing, magically resolved or quietly forgotten. The writing is far from compelling. This, in turn, causes the acting to be off or over the top. The actors have nothing to sink their teeth into. It is worse than a daytime soap opera.
