It links some of the accused in cases at Booysens and Yeoville. It claims
- Abenezer, accused 7 and 8 are implicated as suspects and are likely to be charged in the Boysens case where the same modus operandi was allegedly used. 2 Ethiopians in that matter were granted bail and they have since absconded.
- 22 Sassa officials have been identified in the Yoeville case. It claims Accused 7, 8 and 11 are suspects.

The state says the accused could not have committed the offences without the help of other members involved in the alleged syndicate.
- They needed access to the database of Home Affairs

The state believes there is a likelihood that the accused will intimidate witnesses if released on bail.
-It says one of the Internal Investigators from Sassa has been receiving threats indicating that he should stop with this investigation or else he will see what will happen to him
-It alleges that the threats came at back of the arrest of the Manager, Paul Miyandu
- They also say Miyandu’s wife has been calling Sassa officials and interfering with the investigation.

- It has connected the first Sassa employee to be arrested, Tshilidzi Ramaphosa to Ethiopian National, Abenezer Tyahyn.
-Abenezer is Infact the one found with 139 Sassa cards, 6 Wizzit cards, 59 Tyme Bank cards and 8 FNB cards
-129 of the 139 were for foreign nationals who do not have Identity numbers.
-4 of the Tyme Bank cards were linked to Sassa illegal profiles and created by Ramaphosa
-49 of the grant forms linked to Tyme Bank went missing in the Sassa offices
-It believes the accused have access to evidential material that they can destroy if released on bail.

The state believes the accused will jeorpadize the investigation if released on bail and cites the following;
- Sassa employees used the Socpen system to commit the offences. Employees access the system using a 3G card.
- Accused 3, 5, 6, 7, 9 are grant administrators tasked with assisting members of the public with grant applications and capturing info in the Socpen System. Applicant has to be there in person
-Accused 8 and 11 are Senior grant administrators tasked with verifying the info in the system
- Accused 10 is the manager overseeing the running of the office and had access to authorize payment in the Socpen system
- Accused 9, 10 and 11 have not handed in their Sassa laptops…

- It says the accused can afford to forfeit the R2 000 that they say they have for bail due to the large amount that was stolen, and lists the following among others.
- Ethiopian National, Abenezer Tyahyn has immovable properties worth R200 000 despite making a profit of R10 000 for each vehicle that he fixes. He has more immovable assets than all Sassa employees with the exception of accused 5.
-Masters student, Siphesihle Dlamini (acc5) bought property valued at R340 000 in May last year, a vehicle worth R150 000
- They say Accused 9 told them that the 30 year old (Dlamini) bought the property cash.
-While Dlamini told the court she earns R18 000 from Sassa and R30 000 from her business, the state says she provided no proof of the R30k income and that her profile shows no company registered in her name.

The state opposes bail. It believes the accused could evade trial due to links to unknown Home Affairs individuals. It alleges that;
-Sassa employees used fake identity documents obtained from these individuals to apply and verify old age and social grants.
- It suggests they have access to people who can create false identity documents that they can use to evade trial.

She’s employed at Sassa earning R18 000 and has a business where she earns R30 000 per month from it.
She has never travelled outside the country
