For the newsletter this week, @HellOnFriscoBay goes long on this year's Day of Silents and on the history of silent film at the Castro, in celebration of what may be the last full day of it at the venue:

The beautiful Castro Theatre this evening at #SFSFF. Why anyone would want to take the seats out of this glorious place is baffling to me. #SaveTheSeats
Thank you to @LouisianaGov, who used his line item veto power on the budget to fully restore the original investment for the Child Care Assistance Program!
Today I used my line item veto authority to prevent an unnecessary, painful $100 million budget cut from the @LADeptHealth. It would’ve resulted in $400 to $700 million in cuts when federal matching funds were accounted for.
Read my veto letter below. #lagov
#LaLege included $44 million in new funding for early care and education in the state budget, a huge win for our future.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in calling on legislators to #SaveTheSeats. We must continue to advocate until every child can access quality child care.
Thank you to everyone who helped #SaveTheSeats

“A cut in funding ignores the central role that caregivers play in supporting our economy and will fail Louisiana child care centers, families and children. We can’t let that happen.” #SaveTheSeats https://t.co/NZNDPCs11W

At the @Ready_Louisiana press conference, Senator @GeraldBoudreaux said, “The money is there. When it comes time to incarceration, we don’t have choices. When we talk about the juvenile crimes that are being committed it’s because we haven’t put those resources where they need...
At the @Ready_Louisiana press conference, Sen. @ReginaBarrow said, “The science & the data prove that when we invest early in our children the dividends will pay off. We have a lot of money, & a lot of needs. We need to prioritize those needs & those priorities are our children.”
